- Motive for the start of project:

There had been the invitation of young farmers from China to the Hokkaido farmers through several Agricultural Cooperatives/NGOs in Hokkaido.
In 1988, the Hokkaido International Agricultural Exchange Association was established as the NGO to promote nternational affairs in the field of agriculture in Hokkaido. Since then, Hokkaido Prefectural Government subsidy some part of the cost to accept agricultural trainees.

Accepting agricultural trainees began.
Since then, 50-130 trainees have been invited through Hokkaido International Agricultural Exchange Association each year. In fiscal 2003, the number was 64.

- Results and Future Prospects:

There are many trainees who keep correspondence with the hosting farmers after going back home. They contribute to the Japan-China friendship. The project will be continued.
