Motive for the start of project:
With the 15th Anniversary of the friendly affiliation between Hokkaido and Heilongjiang as a new start, we have intended to enhance the exchanges between people, technologies and in the field of environmental issues between both regions.
Outline and Progress of Project:
The Hokkaido Government took the initiative to form a group of planting volunteers consisting of residents of Hokkaido, who will plant trees in Heilongjiang in cooperation with the people of the province, and create a "Forest of Friendship" by providing saplings from Hokkaido and dispatching our staff members who have the expertise in planting.

Results and Future Prospects:
In 2004, a total of 92 volunteers from Hokkaido planted 2,500 trees in approximately 1ha of land in Heilongjiang in collaboration with the people of the province and created a "Forest of Friendship".
