- Have received their cooperation in a wide-range of situations such as guiding, interpreting, and during negotiations with their government, etc. whenever an inspection group from our village or technical instructors visited Myanmar.
CLAIR (Council of Local Authorities for International Relations)
- In 1996 and 1999, was adopted as a "model project (International Cooperation Activities" and implemented projects to dispatch inspection groups and instructors, and to receive trainees. This year we are currently in reception of 2 lacquerware trainees on the "Local Government Officials Training Program."
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- In 2000, was adopted for the "Long-term Youth Exchange Program" and implemented a trainee reception program. Also received guidance in situations such as visa approval for trainees.
JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency)
- In 1999, dispatched 2 technical instructors on a JICA program.
- Expenses:
-
Settlement of accounts for 2000: ¥5 000 000
- Cases of difficulty and solutions:
- As it is a small-scale local governmental program, the greatest challenge is securing funds for the cooperative exchange programs. Fortunately we have received understanding and cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CLAIR, etc., for adoption into their programs each time, making it possible to continue our programs.
- Achievement and Prospects:
- The Myanmar Government greatly appreciates the exchange program to dispatch technical instructors and to receive trainees, and is thought to be useful in improving crafts production skills. Recently, the fruits of the programs have started to show in the quality of the lacquerware being produced. New buds of exchange have started to sprout such as in an Overseas Training Program for the women of our village.
