International Contribution Assistance Project
Type of Project : Other
Field : Other
Name of Local Authority : Aichi Prefecture
Cooperative partners : Aichi International Association

Project Target:
NGO/NPOs actively carrying out international cooperation projects in Aichi
Reason for Initiating Project:
A private company applied to offer funds in the form of a grant for the use of promoting international contributions; we accepted and founded the International Contribution Assistance Project.
Project Outline & Progress:
Support oriented subsidization for international cooperation projects being carried out in Aichi by NGO/NPOs.

1992, ¥ 2,000,000 in subsidies for 4 groups
1993, ¥ 1,800,000 in subsidies for 4 groups
1994, ¥ 2,650,000 in subsidies for 6 groups
1995, ¥ 2,000,000 in subsidies for 4 groups
1996, ¥ 1,130,000 in subsidies for 4 groups
1997, ¥ 1,200,000 in subsidies for 4 groups
1998, ¥ 1,760,000 in subsidies for 7 groups
1999, ¥ 1,794,000 in subsidies for 9 groups
2000, ¥ 1,792,000 in subsidies for 10 groups
2001, ¥ 1,422,000 in subsidies for 8 groups
2002, ¥ 1,733,000 in subsidies for 8 groups
2003, ¥ 1,356,000 in subsidies for 5 groups
Expenses:
¥ 1,356,000 (2003 fiscal year)
Project Problems & Solutions:
Method of distributing funds when faced with a large number of requests for assistance and the total corresponding subsidies would exceed the planned budget.
  1. - Provide assistance to all applicants by proportionally dividing (reducing) the amount each applicant receives so that total subsidies do not exceed the budget.
  2. - Hold a review committee to assess the necessity of project(s) in need of subsidization.
Results & Project Comments:
Because the number of groups/organizations carrying out new projects has increased, it appears that the base level of international cooperation projects by NGO/NPOs has grown larger.
Tasks:
Due to the fact that we are now relying on prefectural citizens and industries/businesses for financial resources and because Aichi is feeling the effects of the financial downturn, we do not know how long we can continue to secure financial resources (for projects).
