Motive for the start of project:
In 1999, Miyama Fishery Cooperative Association applied for the request to Japan from Induk Koperasi Perikanan Indonesia (National Federation of Indonesian Fishermen's Cooperative Societies) for receiving trainees of fishery
Outline and Progress of Project:
One-year training and two-year practice on bonito-tuna fishing boat

1999 April: Application for reception of 12 Indonesian trainees for the First Indonesian Fishery Trainee Program
1999 July-September: Japanese language training in Indonesia
1999 October-December: Japanese language study and fishing at institute in Owase, Mie

Difficulties encountered and Solutions:
Due to the climate difference of the two countries, some trainees lacked weather-appropriate clothing. However, with the help of the citizens clothing was collected and given to them.
Results and Future Prospects:
All trainees studied and trained very hard, and the Japanese fishermen accepted them favorably. The trainees were gentle-mannered. No problems occurred between the Japanese fishermen and the trainees.
