- How the program started:

The year 1993 marked the 10th anniversary of the signing of the friendship agreement between Kyoto Prefecture and Shaanxi Province. In September 1994,The Special Exhibition of Chang'an, the Capital of Tang Dynastywas held at The Museum of Kyoto in commemoration of the 10th anniversary (above-noted) as well as the 1,200 year history of Kyoto.
The Exhibition ushered in the establishment of the friendly relations between The Museum of Kyoto and Shaanxi History Museum with the aim of promoting academic and institutional exchanges.
- Outline/Progress:
- In 1994, the friendly relations were established between The Museum of Kyoto and Shaanxi History Museum.
During 1995 and 1998, the personnel of both museums had reciprocal visits to each other.
- Period:
- The Exchange Programs have been carried out since 1994. Expenses: ¥ 800,000 (settled account of the 1998 fiscal year)

- Results/Prospects:
- The Program has contributed to the promotion of exchanges in academics and administration of museums as well as in surveys of historical sites, study visits and lectures.It is expected to develop new ways of exchanges, based on the above-mentioned achievements.
