It has become more and more difficult these days to preserve and analyze cultural assets excavated in Nara Prefecture with knowledge obtained only in Japan. This shows the extent to which the culture of Nara has gained importance on an international scale. Therefore, we have implemented a research exchange program with National Research Institute of Cultural Properties in Korea, in which researchers from both countries take part for a period of one year. Knowledge obtained by Japanese experts in Korea and studies done by Korean researchers in Japan as well as the friendship and understanding between the two countries have contributed a lot to improving the quality of information and data we transfer on cultural assets, which are highly valued both inside and outside Nara Prefecture. Nara has become known not merely as the Nara of Japan, but as the Nara of Asia.
- Theme:
-
Henceforth, exchange programs with institutions in Korea have become necessary, in order to broaden exchange activities.
- Message:
-
We intend to let the world know the results of research in buried cultural assets in Nara Prefecture.
