Motive for the start of project:
Set up with a view to increasing effective international cooperation projects. Aims to cultivate people with a worldwide perspective, who will promote exchange worldwide, appreciating the necessity of advancing technical cooperation in developing countries through information exchange with Okayama Prefecture and the area in question
Outline and Progress of Project:
38 Members of the Foreign Cooperation Youth Group from Okayama Prefecture are at the present time working in 29 different countries and commissioned as "Okayama International Cooperation Ambassadors". They work as go-betweens to promote international cooperation between Okayama and the place they are working

The Role of the Ambassadors
  1. In relation to the citizens of the target country
    Introduce Okayama Prefecture to the citizens of the target country. Utilize the supplies provided by the citizens of Okayama Prefecture, develop exchange and cooperation with the citizens of the target country.
  2. In relation to the citizens of Okayama Prefecture
    Inform the citizens of Okayama Prefecture about the work done in the target countries.
    Work done as member of Foreign Cooperation Youth Group to inform citizens of need for supplies in target country.

Sending of recorders (instruments) to Sri Lanka
Sending of Japanese language teaching materials and calligraphy materials to Brazil
Sending of recorders to Tonga
Sending of Japanese / origami paper, and buttens to Argentina
Sending of calligraphy pens to the Philippines
Sending of PE kits and stationary to Ghana
Sending of maths sets to the Marshall Island
Expenses:
Budget in 2004: 1.04 million yen
Results and Future Prospects:
Sending of recorders (instruments) to Sri Lanka

Availability of communication facilities differs according to target country
Message:
We hope for this project to be known by as many citizens of Okayama Prefecture as possible, and hope that it will prove to be an entry point for people in the field of international contribution. We are very keen to receive comments/suggestions from other prefectures or cities running similar projects regarding the possibility of advancing this project.
