Motive for the start of project:
Formed after suggestion made by the “Society to Discuss International Contribution in Okayama Prefecture”. This society was headed by Mr. Yasushi Akashi, a former assistant office manager at the United Nations. The aim being to cultivate people who can work actively in the field of international contribution.
Outline and Progress of Project:
  1. Aim
    The cultivation of people well-equipped to engage in future relief work both in Japan and abroad.
  2. Contents of Project
    -The “Basic Course” involves the welcoming of speakers from the United Nations and NGOs to give talks about international relief work.
    -The “Specialist Course” involves such talks as well as visits to actual sites where relief work takes place
    1) Schedule of Project:
    -Basic Course: 11th July • 9th October
    -Specialist Course: 19th-20th September • 6th-7th November
    2) Course Capacity: 20 members
    3) Course Fees:
    -Basic Course: 500Yen
    -Specialist Course: 4,500Yen
    4) Other
    -Training is completed when both courses have been taken
