A Friendship Agreement was signed between Hiroshima Prefecture and Sichuan Province in 1984, and as well as keeping up various forms of exchanges, the cooperation in the relationship deepened in 1991, when the two mutually agreed to work on Sichuan's intensifying environmental problems.
